Asia Cement Corp records 5% YoY revenue increase

Taiwan’s Asia Cement Corp has recorded a 4.9 per cent increase in November 2019 revenue to TWD8bn (US$262.5m), compared with TWD7.626bn in the year-ago period. In the first 11 months of the year, revenue climbed 6.6 per cent YoY to TWD81.23bn from TWD76.2bn.

Chia Hsin Cement reports 1% fall in revenues in Oct

Taiwan-based Chia Hsin Cement Corp posted a revenue of TWD176.789m (US$5.8m) in October 2019, slipped 0.9 per cent when compared with TWD178.401m reported for October 2018. In the first 10 months of 2019, revenues fell six per cent to TWD1.573bn from TWD1.674bn in January-October 2018.

Taiwan’s Hsing Ta Cement has recorded a 12.5 per cent YoY fall in revenue for October 2019, decreasing to TWD638.73m (US$21m) from TWD729.87m. However, revenue in the January-October period increased 15 per cent YoY to TWD6.26bn. Asia Cement of Taiwan has joined the World Cement Association (WCA) as a corporate member. Asia Cement produces 5Mta of cement from its three cement plants in Hsinchu, Hualien and NanHwa, Taiwan. Taiwan’s Hsing Ta Cement has seen a 21.6 per cent YoY increase in revenue to TWD727.86m (US$23.3m) for August 2019, compared with TWD598.65m in the year-ago period. In the first eight months of the year, the company recorded a 21.7 per cent YoY advance in revenue to TWD4.89bn from TWD4.02bn.

Taiwan Cement Corp has announced a 5.9 per cent YoY fall in revenue for the second quarter of 2019, falling to TWD31.36bn (US$1bn) from TWD33.32bn. Pretax profit saw a decline of five per cent to TWD9.33bn, while net profit rose 2.3 per cent to TWD7.23bn from TWD7.06bn.

Asia Cement Corp's Taroko mining rights repealed

The Taipei High Administrative Court has repealed Asia Cement Corp’s (ACC) right to operate a cement mine located in Taroko National Park, Taiwan. This decision upheld an appeal from Taroko residents and falls against a Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) decision to grant a 20-year extension of mining rights until 2037. Taiwan Cement Co (TCC) has committed a budget of TWD600m (US$19.1m) to expand its carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) technology this year. By 2025 the company estimates that it will capture approximately 450,000t of CO 2 per year. TCC's eventual aim is to reach zero CO 2 emissions from its industrial facilities. Chia Hsin Cement Corp reported a 21.2 per cent decrease in revenues to TWD146.5m (US$4.67m) in May when compared with May 2018, when revenues reached TWD185.9m was posted. For the first five months of 2019, revenues declined by 8.2 per cent to TWD760m from TWD828m in the 5M18.

Taiwan’s Hsing Ta Cement has reported a 30 per cent YoY increase in revenue for May 2019, rising to TWD800.42m (US$25.4m) from TWD625.56m. In the first five months of the year, the company saw revenue advance 30.6 per cent to TWD2.91bn from TWD2.23bn. Meanwhile, Lucky Cement announced that its revenue was up 3.6 per cent to TWD305.28m in May, compared with TWD294.58m in the year-ago period. In Jan-May 2019, revenue increased 3.9 per cent to TWD1.46bn from TWD1.41bn.
