Pakistan exports witnessed an increase of 0.8Mt during the first seven months of the current fiscal year July-January 2009-10, according to the latest figures released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).   According to the data, cement exports surged to 6.6Mt at the end of January 2010, compared to 5.8Mt in the corresponding period last year. Pakistan exported 6.6Mt of cement in the seven months ended Jan. 31, compared with 5.8Mt in the same period a year ago. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has approved a proposal to extend duty-free imports of cement to stabilise prices, a Cabinet official said on Monday. Duty-free imports for the commodities, which lapsed last month, will last for six more months and will be enforced retroactively, Trade Secretary Peter B. Ethiopian government has announced that it would stop importing cement as of February 7, 2010, the Ministry of Works and Urban Development said.
