Pakistan exported 2.43Mt of cement during FY15-16 to Afghanistan, which fell to 1.76Mt in FY2016-17. While Afghanistan remains the biggest export market for Pakistan producers, this translates into a fall of 28 per cent. Cement exports from Cameroon reached 57,459t in 2017, a considerable increase from 19,700t in 2016, according to data released by the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Trade. Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL) and its Barbados-based subsidiary Arawak Cement Ltd are reported to have filed legal action against the Government of Barbados, accusing it of breaking the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) single market and economy, according to Barbados Today. The Pakistan cement industry during the first 10 months of outgoing fiscal year July 2017-April 2018 dispatched 38.99Mt of cement compared to 33.880Mt during the same period last year. GICA exports first clinker to Europe

The Algerian Industry Ministry said GICA exported its first shipment of clinker to Europe in April. A subsidiary of state-run GICA Group delivered 45,000t. The shipment is part of a contract to export 200,000t to Europe. GICA is expected to export more cement to African and European countries in the near future, the statement noted.

Cement exports from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan increased by 162,000t in the last year, Exports to Kyrgyzstan were up by 16,800t, but exports to Afghanistan fell by 10,600t (8.8 per cent) in 2017. Qassim Cement receives export licence

Qassim Cement Co has received a one-year export licence from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce and Investment, said the company in a bourse filing. Saudi Arabia cancelled cement export duties from 1 February 2018. In March Yanbu Cement announced it will begin cement and clinker exports this month following the agreement to export 1Mt of clinker and 0.5Mt of cement.
