Cement sales in Vietnam slipped nine per cent YoY to 5.903Mt in March 2021, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Central American cement imports have grown the most in recent years from Vietnam, given that in 2016 no significant purchases were reported, Vietnam raised its share to 30 per cent of the total cement imported between January and September 2020. Vietnam’s cement and clinker exports up 22%

Cement and clinker exports increased by 22.5 per cent YoY to over 8Mt in the year up to 15 March 2021, according to the latest data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs. In terms of value, there was a 14 per cent YoY rise to US$295m. However, average prices dropped 6.7 per cent YoY to US$36.40/t. A drop in average cement and clinker prices in China led to a decline in Vietnamese prices from US$40/t to U$32-33/t since late 2020.

China, the Philippines and Bangladesh were the biggest importers of Vietnamese cement in the first two months of 2021, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Vietnam is expected to sell 8.87Mt of cement in March, up 1.5 per cent YoY, according to the latest data from the Department of Building Materials under the Ministry of Construction. Cement deliveries in Vietnam surged 77 per cent YoY to 5.079Mt in January 2021. However, MoM they fell by 16 per cent, reports the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Vietnam sees cement and clinker exports rise 16%

Vietnam exported 2.7Mt of cement and clinker worth US$98m in February, up 16.8 per cent and 4.8 per cent YoY, respectively, according to the country’s General Statistics Office (GSO). In the first two months of this year, the country exported 5.84Mt of cement and clinker (up 15.9 per cent) representing a value of US$214m (up 6.6 per cent).

Vietnam sees production up 14% in first two months

Vietnam produced 15.5Mt of cement in the first two months of 2020, up 14 per cent YoY, according to the country’s General Statistics Office (GSO). In February the country’s cement output is expected to be down six per cent YoY to 6.8Mt. In 2020 production reached 100.1Mt of cement, rising 3.6 per cent YoY, according to the revised figures.
