Domestic cement sales by Vietnam’s cement producers saw a 39 per cent YoY fall to 2.782Mt in January, reports VNCA, the country’s cement association. Cement sales in Vietnam declined nine per cent YoY and seven per cent MoM to 5.694Mt in December 2022, according to the country’s cement association, VNCA. The US produced an estimated 95Mt of Portland and masonry cement in 2022, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), up from 93Mt in the previous year.  Cement was produced at 96 plants in 34 states, along with two plants in Puerto Rico. Vietnam’s VICEM has reported profits of VND1.53trn (US$63.9m) in 2022, down 30 per cent YoY. Revenue, meanwhile, advanced 17 per cent to VND39.45trn over the same period, reports VN Express. Cement consumption in Vietnam in November 2022 totalled 5,275,474t, down by three per cent YoY, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Of this total 1,800,848t was supplied by VICEM, representing a YoY decline of two per cent, while other VNCA members supplied 1,174,626t, down four per cent YoY. The Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (CeMAP) welcomed the imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties against cement imports from Vietnam, according to a report in the Manila Bulletin. The Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has imposed duties on cement imports from Vietnam for five years.
