Bangladesh’s cement industry is expanding with clinker imports rising for the last five fiscal years. According to the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), the main seaport of Bangladesh, the authority handled 35.130Mt of clinker imports in the financial year 2021-22 (July–June), compared to 33.297Mt in the year-ago period, marking growth of 5.52 per cent. Lafarge Canada has announced the full transformation of its Brookfield Cement Plant in Nova Scotia to a greener portfolio. Holcim has signed an agreement to sell its business in Russia to the local management team. With the new owners, the business will operate independently under a different brand, said the company in a statement. Cement sales in Brazil slipped 0.8 per cent YoY to 5.3Mt in November 2022, according to the Brazilian cement association,  SNIC.
