Dangote maintains cement prices despite currency devaluation

Nigeria’s Dangote Group has not increased the price of its cement products, despite the naira devaluation by the Central Bank of Nigeria, according to The Punch. Cement exports from Senegal drop 35% in February

Exports of cement from Senegal declined 35.3 per cent MoM in February 2021, according to the country’s national statistics agency, ANSD. When compared with February 2020, exports decreased 32.4 per cent. Domestic sales fell by eight per cent MoM in February 2021 while output from Senegalese cement plants was down by 6.5 per cent in the same period. When compared with the equivalent month of 2020, sales and output improved by 12.5 and 3.1 per cent, respectively.

Côte d'Ivoire government responds to rising cement prices

To prevent cement prices spiralling out of control following recent increases, the Ivorian Ministry of Commerce and Industry set maximum cement prices in Côte d’Ivoire at XOF73,000/t (US$135.08/t) of CPJ 32.5 cement ex-works, and at retail level XOF85,000/t within a radius of 300km from the cement plant. Sinoma-CBMI lifts ball mills into position on SC3 project

Sinoma-CBMI is progressing with the modernisation of the Ciments du Sahel plant in Kirene, Senegal. The third clinker line (SC3) project has recently seen the installation of two cement mills lifted into place. The size of each ball mill is 5.2m x19.25m and they weigh in at 208t. Dzata Cement set to begin operations at 1.2Mta plant

BUA Cement announces plans for bond sale

Nigeria’s BUA Cement has announced plans to sell a second tranche of bonds under its NGN200bn (US$525.6m) programme to finance its expansion plans, following the release of the first NGN115bn tranche last year. Dangote Cement's Nigerian operations sold over 4.9Mt, including exports, up 22.2 per cent on the 4Mt sold in 1Q20. Dangote Cement Plc announced group revenues of NGN332.7bn (US$874.4m) in the 1Q21, up 33.5 per cent. Group EBITDA rose by 55.8 per cent to NGN178bn, while Pan-African EBITDA reached NGN23.7bn, an increase of 61.9 per cent. Profits after tax increased by 48.1 per cent to NGN89.7bn.
