Taiwan's producers see largely positive results in May

Taiwan’s Hsing Ta Cement has posted an 11.3 per cent YoY decline in revenue to TWD627.35m (US$22.65m) in May, compared to TWD706.92m in the year-ago period. However, in January-May 2021 revenue advanced 21.2 per cent to TWD3.21bn from TWD2.64bn in the 5M20. Lucky Cement sees 6% decline in revenue

Taiwan’s Lucky Cement has seen its revenue stay largely flat at TWD357.04m (US$12.87m) in May 2021, compared to TWD357.16m in the year-ago period. In the January-May period, revenue declined 6.3 per cent YoY to TWD1.75bn from TWD1.87bn in the 5M20.

Steppe Cement records 14% rise in profit

Kazakhstan’s Steppe Cement has posted a net profit of US$11.1m for 2020, up 14.4 per cent YoY from US$9.7m in the previous year. EBITDA also saw a modest increase to US$24.2m from US$23.9m in 2019. Caribbean Cement sees sales rise 31%

Jamaica’s Caribbean Cement Ltd has posted a 31 per cent YoY increase in sales to JMD5.97bn (US$40.15m) for the first quarter of 2021. Net profit also surged 216 per cent to JMD1.53bn, already representing 48 per cent of 2020’s full-year total, according to the Jamaica Observer. The company also set a new production record of 100,000t of cement in March. The rise in figures comes as the country records a strong performance from the construction sector across the board.

Burnpur Cement posts net loss in the March quarter

India’s Burnpur Cement has seen an INR158.7m (US$2.17m) standalone net loss in the January-March quarter of 2021, compared to INR1.25bn in the year-ago period. However, net revenue surged 142 per cent YoY to INR432m from INR178.5m in the 4Q19-20. Operating expenses increased 138.7 per cent YoY to INR421.8m from INR176.7m.

YTL Corp net profit rises 9% in 3QFY21

YTL Corp Bhd recorded a nine per cent increase in its net profit to MYR93.5m (US$22.6m) for the third financial quarter ended 31 March 2021 (3QFY21), up from MYR85.4m in the preceding quarter. Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMS) recorded a 3.5-fold higher net profit of MYR77.8m (US$18.8m) for the first quarter ended 31 March 2021 compared with MYR17.28m in the same period last year. Bestway Cement Ltd has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange on 27 May that it is setting up a greenfield cement plant with a clinker capacity of 7200tpd, near Paikhel, Mianwali, Punjab province. India’s Anjani Portland Cement has reported a largely stable total income in the full-year period ending 31 March 2021, reaching INR4.14bn (US$56.9m) from INR4.13bn in the FY19-20. However, net profit surged 110.6 per cent YoY to INR849.8m from INR403.5m in the previous fiscal.

Shree Cement records 22% revenue increase

India’s Shree Cement has posted a 22.2 per cent YoY increase in standalone revenue from operations to INR39.31bn (US$540.6m) in the quarter ending 31 March 2021, against INR32.18bn in the year-ago period. Net profit advanced 30.5 per cent YoY to INR7.68bn from INR5.88bn. In the full-year period, revenue from operations climbed 5.7 per cent to INR125.88bn from INR119bn in the FY19-20. Net profit surged 40.8 per cent YoY to INR23.12bn.
