Colombia: dispatches up 12.5% in December 2015

Cement deliveries in Colombia rose by 12.5 per cent YoY to 1.107Mt in December 2015, according to the latest data by the country’s statistics office, DANE. Construction companies and contractors mainly fuelled the increase as their segment expanded by 27.9 per cent. Cement consumption in Spain has increased by 5.3 per cent to 11,408,287t in 2015, according to Oficemen, the country's cement association. Jordan’s consumption of cement declined to 4Mt in 2015, down by 300,000t from a year earlier due to weaker construction activities and government projects, the head of the Future Society for Cement Traders, Mohammed Ghazi Abu Soufa, said. Peru’s cement dispatches remained stable in December 2015 as they reached 881,000t while total dispatches edged up one per cent to 928,000t, according to Asocem, the country’s cement producers’ association. Brazilian cement sales in 2015 declined by 9.2 per cent YoY to 64.4Mt, preliminary data and market estimates published by Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento (SNIC) reveal.
