Kazakhstan’s Steppe Cement has sold 780,315t of cement in the first half of 2019, an increase of six per cent YoY from 738,228t in the year-ago period. The revenue from the sale of cement has surged 34 per cent to KZT14bn (US$36.6m) from KZT10.5bn. Swiss cement deliveries fall to 1.176Mt in 2Q19

Cement deliveries in Switzerland declined 3.6 per cent in the 2Q19 when compared to the 2Q18, according to Cemsuisse, the Swiss cement association. Sales in the April-June quarter 2019 came in at 1.176Mt. In the 2Q18 cement sales reached 1.22Mt. In the first quarter sales increased 4.8 per cent YoY to 0.874Mt and when compared with the 1H18, total cement sales in the first half of 2019 have slipped by 0.2 per cent.

US and Puerto Rican blended and Portland cement shipments up 6% in April

Blended and Portland cement shipments in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced 5.9 per cent to 8.7Mt in April 2019, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The largest US markets were Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Georgia, which accounted for a combined share of 42 per cent of such shipments. Argentina's cement demand declines 11% in June

The Argentine cement market contracted by 11.4 per cent YoY to 860,631Mt in June, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The domestic demand was entirely met by Argentina’s cement producers, who produced 863,924t of cement during the month. ICRA expects Indian demand growth to slow

Indian ratings agency ICRA is expecting cement demand growth in the country to taper to about seven per cent in the FY19-20, down from 13 per cent in the previous fiscal. Domestic cement dispatches in Vietnam fell six per cent YoY and seven per cent MoM to 5.929Mt in May 2019, according to the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA). The Cement Demand Index, presented by Oficemen, the Spanish cement producers’ association, has registered an increase of 7.1 per cent in April when compared with April 2018. This represents a fall of nearly two percentage points when compared with March 2018, according to the association.
