Breedon Group reports revenue of GBP671m in 1H22

Breedon Goup's interim 2022 results saw revenue reach GBP671.1m (US$809.1m) up 12 per cent from GBP600.9m in 1H21. EBIT totalled GBP65.5m, up 22 per cent from GBP53.7m, and profit before tax totalled GBP59.5m, up 29 per cent from GBP46.2m. Yamama sees 9% dip in 1H profits

Yamama Cement Co of Saudi Arabia saw its net profit after zakat and tax decline by 9.2 per cent YoY to SAR120.1m (US$32m) in the 1H22 from SAR 132.55m in the 1H21. Sales expanded by 12.5 per cent YoY to SAR430.86m in the 1H22 from SAR382.83m in the year-ago period. In the second quarter of 2022, net profits were up by 16.8 per cent YoY to SAR90.69m from SAR77.68m in the 2Q21. Sales increased by 3.3 per cent to SAR209.28m from SAR202.57m in the 2Q21.

Cahya Mata Sarawak plans to double its cement capacity

Cahya Mata Sarawak (CMS) is looking at doubling its current cement production at the Bintulu grinding plant as the conglomerate plans to ramp up capacity for construction of Indonesia's new capital Nusantara. Vietnam-based Song Lam Cement JSC , part of the Vissai Group , exported 2.28Mt of cement in the first half of 2022, according to local media.   The Philippines was the largest off-taker of Song Lam cement, importing 713,000t. BUA to expand Kalambaina plant

BUA Cement is reportedly in talks with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) over a loan to expand its integrated cement plant in Kalambaina, Sokoto State, Nigeria. According to Reuters, the company is looking to increase the plant's cement production capacity from 2Mta to 8Mta.

Huaxin Ltd has increased its shareholding in Zambia-based Chilanga Cement from 75 to 81.19 per cent following the purchase of 50,013,468 shares, according to the Times of Zambia. The company submitted a cash offer to the board of directors of Chilanga Cement to purchase from the minority shareholders, all the remaining 50,013,468 shares that did not own representation of 25 per cent shareholding.
