Bangladesh-based Meghna Cement Mills Ltd , part of the Bashundhara Group , has appointed Ahmed Akbar Sobhan as its new managing director. The appointment was effective from 28 December 2023, reports Market Screener. 

Arabian Cement announces management changes

Arabian Cement Company has announced three management changes. Mutaz Kusai Hassan AlAzzawi has been appointed chairman of the board of directors (non-executive), Saud Abdulaziz Abdullah Al-Sulaiman has become vice chairman (non-executive), while Hani Mohamed Lehji is the new secretary of the board. The appointments were made at the company’s Ordinary General Assembly Meeting on 17 December 2023. 

Hungary's Talentis acquires Lukavac

Hungary-based Talentis International Construction Investments kft has acquired Lukavac Cement dd for an undisclosed amount. Established in 1974, the Bosnian cement producer was previously owned by Asamer Baustoffe AG of Austria. It operates a 0.9Mta cement plant in Lukavac , near Tusla, northern Bosnia. Talentis is owned by Hungarian businessman and former politician Lorenz Meszaros.

Sococim Industries prepares for Kiln No 6 expansion

Dushanbe cement plant closed

OJSC Cementi Tojik (Tajik Cement) has closed of the Dushanbe cement plant due to considerable air pollution in Tajikistan’s capital city.   The plant has been replaced by a new production unit. Earlier this year Tajik Cement opened a 1.2Mta cement plant in Ismoili Somoni, Dushanbe, on a 35ha plot. The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the plant was held on 17 September 2019.

Thatta Cement Co appoints new Karachi director

UltraTech's sales rise 6% YoY in 3QFY23-24

UltraTech 's consolidated sales rose by six per cent per cent to 27.32Mt YoY in the third quarter ended 31 December 2023. New cement plant on track for Kyrgyzstan

A new cement plant is set to launch in Chuy region, Kyrgyzstan in 2024. The plant will have a capacity of 1.7Mta and is expected to create 650 jobs. The plant will use ash dumps from the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant as raw materials and will have a waste heat recovery system to generate electricity.
