Dangote Cement Co has inaugurated its mega warehouse in Imo State, Nigeria. The warehouse was officially opened by Governor Rochas Okorocha and the president of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote. Pakistan’s Mega Conglomerate Private Ltd (MCPL) has reportedly withdraw its bid to buy controlling shares in two plants of Dewan Cement based in Dhabeji, Sindh and Hattar Industrial Estate, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The two facilities have a combined capacity of 2.89Mta. Bestway Cement Ltd (BCL) has started dispatches of cement from its new Farooqia Line II, having clinker capacity of 6000tpd, at Hattar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Breedon completes Tarmac asset swap

Breedon Group announced it has completed an asset swap with Tarmac that secures 25Mt of additional mineral reserves and some 50,000tpa of extra asphalt capacity in four key UK locations. Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd has appointed Ujjwal Batria as COO of the company. Mr Batria will lead the operation of sales and marketing, logistics, manufacturing and technical services departments, according to the company. GICA plans its first export shipment to west Africa

Algeria’s GICA has signed a maritime contract of carriage with CNAN Nord, a subsidiary of state-run shipping group GATMA, for the company’s first shipment of 10,000t of cement to west Africa. GICA plans to export between 1-1.5Mt of its production in 2018, according to the Ministry of Industry and Mining.

Bamburi Cement completes construction of grinding plant

Kenya’s Bamburi Cement has announced that construction of its 0.9Mta grinding plant at Athi River, south of Nairobi, has been completed. The facility represents a KES4bn (US$39.62m) investment and is part of the company’s expansion plan launched in 2015. UltraTech commissions second grinding unit in Dhar

India’s UltraTech Cement has commissioned its second 1.75Mta grinding facility at Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, with the first entering operation in April 2018. The new plant increases the company’s total manufacturing capacity to 92.5Mta and with further ongoing expansion projects this is expected to rise to 96.5Mta in the future.
