Long Thanh Cement receives approval for capacity upgrade

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has approved Long Thanh Cement JSC’s plans to raise the capacity at its facility in Tan Tao, Ha Nam, from 0.91Mta to 2.3Mta. The Ministry also permitted the company to change the name of the unit to Long Thanh cement plant, according to Viet Nam News. The plant was constructed at an initial investment of VND1.3trn (US$56.52m) has a clinker capacity of 2500tpd.

Tarmac plans Dunbar plant modernisation

UK-based Tarmac has announced plans to modernise its plant in Dunbar, Scotland. The proposal, submitted for approval to the East Lothian Council, includes the addition of a grinding unit, storage silo and a rail loading facility. Sabanci reportedly considers the sale of three facilities

Turkey’s Sabanci Holding is considering the sale of three of its cement factories, according to Reuters. The factories include Çimsa’s Kayseri (1.1Mta) and Nidge (0.81Mta) units, and Akçansa’s Ladik (1Mta) facility. Sabanci has reportedly authorised Unlu & Co, a financial group, for the deal.

UltraTech Cement Ltd's unaudited financial results for the quarter ended 30 June 2018 reported net sales of INR88.4bn (US$1.28bn), up 27 per cent from INR69.3bn of the previous year. Ecocem France has opened its new 0.75Mta production plant in Dunkerque, France. Vicem reports 10% sales increase in 1H18

Vietnam’s Vicem has reported a 10.1 per cent YoY increase in cement and clinker sales for 1H18, with the total 14.7Mt including 11.74Mt of exports. Additionally, the company’s cement and clinker output rose 8.5 per cent and 6.4 per cent to 10.15Mt and 11.56Mt, respectively. LafargeHolcim France is installing a new blending facility at its Dunkerque Nord grinding plant to increase the unit’s capacity.
