Buffalo Fuel to open new US$2.2m alternative fuel facility

US-based Buffalo Fuel Corp is planning to set up a new US$2.2m facility in Niagara Falls, New York, USA, for processing tyres and recyclable paper into fuel for cement kilns. The company has applied to the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency (NCIDA) board for a 15-year tax break for the project that would save it US$527,000 in total. Cementos Argos installs solar power unit in Honduras

Colombia’s Celsia CV (Grupo Argos) has installed a 10.6MW solar plant at Cementos Argos’ facility in Comayagua, Honduras. The unit consists of 32,160 solar panels and will be able to meet 20 per cent of the cement plant's electrical demand. As a result, Cementos Argos should be able to avoid some 10,000tpa of CO 2 emissions. The project is Celsia’s first photovoltaic plant in Honduras.

Cherat Cement to receive gas for its captive power plant

Cherat Cement Co Ltd (CHCC) has started receiving gas supply from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd, for its for its plant located at Nowshera in KPK province, Pakistan. Quinn Cement fined GBP2000 or emissions breach

Quinn Cement was fined GBP2000 (US$2554), having pleaded guilty to failing to limit gas emissions from its Ballyconnell plant in Ireland. The breach ocurred between 2018-19 and was monitored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to have surpassed permitted levels for Hydrogen Chloride release.
