Portugal: N+P deliver SRF

On 8 May 2016 a ship carrying 2500t of baled SRF berthed at Lisbon. The SRF originated from N+P Alternative Fuels’ location in Grimsby, UK and will be used as a substitute for primary fuels in the cement industry. This new project form N+P represents the company's next step towards further strengthening its position in the alternative fuels market.

India: Ramco expands Tamil Nadu power plant

The Environment Ministry of India has given Ramco Cements environmental clearance to expand its captive power plant (CPP) at Alathiyur in Tamil Nadu, at a cost of approximately INR214.2m (US$3.18m). Rambo proposed increasing the capacity of the CPP by adding 6MW turbines, taking total power generation from 42MW. Clearance for this project was granted subject to certain conditions, which include having to use coal with sulphur and ash content not exceeding 0.8 and 14 per cent, respectively...

Philippines: clinker delivery to Taiheiyo facility runs aground

Bulk carrier MV Belle Rose was refloated last week having run aground on Monad Shoal off the Philippines, the Manila Bulletin reports. Environmental activists have called on the ship’s owners to bear the cost of repairing the environmental damage caused when the ship struck the reef, which is a popular tourist destination. The ship was carrying 48,000t of clinker to the Taiheiyo Cement facility in Naga City.
