A year long Parliamentary inquiry into Cockburn Cement has found the company was complacent towards complaints by the community about dust and odour emissions. The WA Upper House Environmental and Public Affairs standing committee today tabled a 400-page report into the company’s operations. Suez Cement to invest €140m in a 120 MW Egyptian wind farm

Suez Cement (part of the Italcementi Group) plans to invest €140m (US$191m) in a 120MW Egyptian wind farm that plans to start operations by the end of 2013. A second phase of the wind farm will extend its capacity to 400MW. The project will cover the energy needs of plants owned by Suez Cement.

US rules meant to cut mercury emissions and other air pollutants at cement plants are too restrictive and based on flawed data, a lawyer for the industry told a federal appeals court.
