Algerian cement exports increase 239% in 11M19

The value of Algerian cement and clinker exports has surged 239.2 per cent to US$59.24m in the 11M19, compared with US$17.47m in the year-ago period, according to the Customs’ Surveys and Prospects Department (DEPD). Saïd Djellab, former trade minister, had said in November that cement export revenues were expected to reach US$60m in late 2019, however, these figures are now expected to require adjustment considering the pace of development.

Domestic cement sales in Brazil advanced 1.6 per cent YoY to 4Mt in December 2019, according to the country’s National Cement Industry Union (SNIC). In terms of sales per business day there was a 2.7 per cent YoY rise when compared with 2018. Apparent consumption in December was up 1.5 per cent YoY to 4Mt. Shahrood Cement exports more than 245,000t since March 2019

Shahrood Cement Co, based in Iran’s Semnan province, has exported more than 245,000t of cement since the start of the current Iranian year (from 21 March 2019), said Behrouz Asvadi, chairman of the province’s Industry, Mine and Trade Organisation. Mr Asvadi noted the company earned US$5.06m from its export activities, adding that the company directly exports its products. The company’s plant has a cement capacity of more than 1.8Mta.

Argentina's cement demand falls 6% in 2019

Argentinian cement sales dropped 6.1 per cent to 11.1Mt in 2019 compared with 11.89Mt in 2018, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. No cement was imported during the year, while exports increased 23.4 per cent YoY to 100,197t. Iran exported 11.4Mt of cement and clinker to 37 countries in the first eight months of the Iranian year from 21 March 2019-21 November 2019. Vietnam is estimated to have exported 34Mt of cement and clinker, worth US$1.39bn, in 2019, reflecting a 6.25 per cent YoY increase in volume and 11.2 per cent YoY rise in value, according to the Department of Import-Export, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Peruvian cement market expanded 2.1 per cent YoY in November 2019 with total sales of 1.048Mt (November 2019: 1.026Mt), according to Peru’s cement association, Asocem. Cement and clinker exports from Indonesia rose 15.4 per cent to 648,354t in November 2019, according to figures published by Semen Indonesia. In November 2018 exports totalled 561,950t.
