India Cements reports 94% YoY drop in net profit

India Cements posted a net profit of INR14.3m for the 2QFY18-19, ended 30 September 2018. This represents a 94 per cent fall when compared with a net profit of INR23.67m in the same quarter of the previous year. However, total income rose by 9.1 per cent at INR13.908bn in the second quarter of the 2018-19 financial year. In 2QFY17-18, total income reached INR12.749bn.

ACC adopts solar power for Kudithini and Thondebhavi grinding mills

ACC Ltd (LafargeHolcim group) has adopted the use of solar power in the cement manufacturing process at its grinding units in Kudithini and Thondebhavi in Karnataka. India’s Sagar Cements has reported that its consolidated production has increased by 40.1 per cent YoY to 273,216Mt for October 2018, compared to 195,066Mt in October 2017. Furthermore, the company’s consolidated sales for the month rose by 43.73 per cent YoY to 279,554Mt from 194,500Mt.

RCCPL announces grinding plant expansion

India's Birla Corp has announced that it plans to carry out the second phase of expansion at the grinding plant of its RCCPL subsidiary in Kundanganj, Uttar Pradesh. The project includes the installation of a 1.2Mta third line, increasing total plant capacity to 3.2Mta. The plans are expected to be completed in the FY20-21 at an investment cost of INR2.5bn (US$34.23m).
