Saurashtra announces rise in 3Q sales but drop in 3Q profit

Saurashtra Cement reported a 78.4 per cent decline in its net profit to INR49.3m (US$706,959) in the quarter ended June 2018 from INR228.2m in the year-ago period. Sales advanced 20.8 per cent to INR1.68m in the April-June 2018 period. In April-June 2017 sales reached INR1.391bn.

Burnpur Cement reports net loss of INR441m in Apr-Jun quarter

India’s Burnpur Cement reported a net loss of INR44.1m (US$0.629) in the quarter ended 30 June 2018. In the year-ago period the cement producer saw a net loss of INR334.2m. Burner’s sales reached INR195.9m in the April-June quarter.

Rain Industries awarded approval for mill upgrade

Rain Industries has received approval for the upgrade of its Unit II cement mill at Boincheruvupalli Village, Andhra Pradesh, India. Rain Cements, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rain Industries, will see cement capacity increase from 2.033Mt to 2.795Mt in a INR419m (US$5.97m) project, which will be funded through internal accruals. The project is scheduled for completion by 30 June 2019.

Shree Cement to set up 3Mta grinding plant in Cuttack

Shree Cement is setting up a 3Mta cement grinding unit at Chandrabali village, Shyampura, in Cuttack district of Odisha. The INR452,550m (US$2m) facility is being constructed by Petron Engineering Construction. Coal India to supply cement industry through e-auctions

Coal India will supply 4.65Mta to the cement industry for five years through e-auctions starting on Tuesday, according to a senior executive at the company. Birla Corp plans 3.9Mta plant in Maharashtra

India's Birla Corp Ltd has announced that its RCCPL subsidiary plans to set up a 3.9Mta facility in Mukutban, Maharashtra, at an investment cost of INR24.5bn (US$356.8m). The project includes a 40MW captive power plant and a 10.6MW heat recovery system. India-based cement producer Mangalam Cement has reported a standalone net loss of INR153.2m for the quarter ended June 2018, compared with a net profit of INR121.1m in the quarter ended June 2017.
