Strong Brazilian market boosts Cimpor

Indocement plans US$100m capex as boosts capacity

Indonesia’s second-largest cement maker, PT Indocement Tunggal Perkasa, said on Tuesday it plans capital expenditure of US$100m in 2010 and expects to lift production capacity by 20 per cent by 2012.   Indocement plans to lift production capacity from 17.1Mt at the end of 2009 to 20.6Mt by 2012 as new mills come on-stream. India Cement is seeking mining leases in Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan to meet coal requirements as it looks to expand beyond the south. Domestic production in Nigeria is expected to increase to around 13Mt at the end of this year, chairman of the Cement Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Engr Joseph Makoju said. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) finance ministers have agreed to recommend that all customs duties be scrapped on reinforced iron bars and cement in trade between member countries, GCC Secretary General Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah said on Saturday.
