Anhui Conch replaces three executive directors

Anhui Conch Cement Co, China’s largest cement maker by output, said Wednesday it appointed Ji Qinying, Qi Shengli and Wu Jianping as executive directors with immediate effect. The appointments come after Yu Biao, Li Shunan and Ren Yong resigned as executive directors on Wednesday because of other duties at the company and its parent firm, Anhui Conch said in a statement.

A Thai court lifted the suspension of a Siam Cement PCL joint venture in the Map Ta Phut industrial estate, which was among the 65 projects stalled because of environmental concerns. The general director of Spanish cement producer Cementos Portland Valderrivas, Angel Luis Heras, has left the company unexpectedly. Antonio Crous, the general director of Cementos Portland’s subsidiary Uniland, is the most probable candidate to assume Heras’ responsibilities. Apart from the post of general director, Heras was also in charge of the company’s sales and marketing policy.

Prices of cement in Abu Dhabi continues to remain stable despite an increase in the cost of aggregates. According to figures released by the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi, the price of aggregates increased by almost 13 per cent this week. Cemex USA said on Tuesday that it has won a legal ruling over US$558m in mineral royalties sought by the state of Texas. Cemex said Judge Carlos Villa ruled from the bench that the state and the General Land Office cannot require Cemex to pay royalties for the removal of sand, gravel, limestone, granite, caliche and soil from its quarry in McKelligon Canyon. Hoang Thach Cement third line starts operation

Hoang Thach Cement Company, one of Vietnam’s biggest cement producers, started operating its third cement production line costing VND2.5 trillion (US$135.29m) on December 21. The line is capable of producing 1.2Mta of cement, raising the company’s total capacity to 3.5Mta, the Nhan Dan newspaper reported Tuesday.
