Qatar cement prices drop by 72 per cent

Construction Week reported that Qatar’s construction industry has been buoyed by a relaxation on import rules, reducing shortages of materials and creating a drop in prices. Cementos Argos SA, Colombia’s biggest cement maker, will report “excellent” third-quarter results, Chief Financial Officer Ricardo Sierra said. Texas Industries has reported a 28.3% drop in turnover in its first trading quarter to the end of August to US$184.0m. Lafarge US moves headquarters

Lafarge North America Inc. is moving its headquarters from Herndon to Reston in 2010. The company signed a 10-year lease for 63,000 square feet at 12018 Sunrise Valley Dr., also known as Two Reston Crescent. It will be downsizing from the 80,000 square feet of space it currently resides in at 12950 Worldgate Dr. in Herndon.

Holcim  denied on Thursday that it was in talks with the Venezuelan government over a possible agreement on how much Venezuela should pay for its nationalised unit. Indonesia is forecast to become a net importer of cement in 2011 when the country will need to import around 200,000t.
