North Cement needs US$70m to boost production

Iraq’s Ministry of Industry and Minerals has said that state-run North Cement Company is seeking $70m to increase its production at its new Hamam al-Aleel factory, Aswat al-Iraq news agency has reported. The North Cement Company has developed a five-year plan to increase its production to meet the demands of the local market and to reduce imports, the ministry said.

Venezuela’s government has purchased 93.8 per cent of the local subsidiary of Lafarge SA, the Caracas Stock Exchange said Wednesday. The state-run Corporacion Socialista Cementera bought the shares of Lafarge’s Fabrica Nacional de Cementos for US$247m, the exchange said in a statement. The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy in its monthly report said that cement prices are expected to weaken across cities in the second half of 2009-10. Turkey’s cement industry continues its growth. The total cement production of all privately owned companies in Turkey reached 25.21Mt as of the end of June. Turkey’s average monthly cerement production was nearly 5.3Mt, according to the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association, or TÇMB. New order for Polysius, China

Nanjing Nangang K.Wah High Tech Materials Co. Ltd. has contracted Polysius for the supply of two roller mills for granulated blast furnace slag grinding.  Both grinding plants will have a rated output of 90tph of ground blast furnace slag with a fineness of 4,300 Blaine and will be installed at the Nanjing steel works in mid-2010.

Lafarge to deepen cooperation with SW Chinese city

Lafarge Group has inked a cooperation agreement with southwestern China’s Chongqing city in the fields of environmental protection industry.
