Cement prices firm up in August rise by 2.3 per cent

Cement prices hardened further last month across the country except in a few markets such as Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Hyderabad.   Data from the Cement Manufacturing Association (CMA) show the prices rose by an average 2.3 per cent in August compared with the figure an year ago. Peruvian cement producer Cementos Yura will invest US$30m (24.4m euro) to boost its exports, the general manager of the company, Antonio Noriega Deza, said on September 14, 2005.  Part of the resources will be invested in the modernisation of the machinery equipment of the company. Jordan Cement factories Co H105 sales at US$131.1m

Jordanian cement producer Jordan Cement Factories Co (JCFC) said it achieved a 16 per cent YoY sales increase to JOD93m (US$131.1m/106.8m) in the first half of 2005.  The sales rise resulted in 14.6 per cent growth in the company’s after-tax profit to JOD26m (US$36.7 m). The strong performance was attributed to the high local cement demand, which has been gradually increasing over the last two years. 

Holcim says plans central Europe cement plant

Taiwan Cement sees 2005 gross margin 11 per cent

Taiwan Cement Corp expects to increase its gross margin to 11% this year from 9 per cent in 2004 due to firming export prices, the Commercial Times reported.   The company also expects to raise its return on equity (ROE) to 13 from 9 per cent, and its return on assets (ROA) to 10 from 8 per cent, it said.
