The first half of 2014 has seen cement sales in Morocco experience a 4.4 per cent decline to 7.435Mt, latest figures released by the country's cement producers' association, APC, show. Saudi Cement posted a 6.2 per cent drop in second-quarter net profit on Monday as declining sales impact revenue. The kingdom’s largest listed cement producer by market value made a net profit of SAR288m (US$76.8m) in the three months to the end of June 2014, compared to SAR307m in the comparative period of last year.

Indonesian cement sales growth has slowed in the first six months of the year, leading to concerns that the country may miss its full year target. For the six months to the end of June 2014, domestic sales reached 28.9Mt, up 3.9 per cent YoY but well below the full-year growth target of six per cent. The construction of Diamond Cement’s plant in Mindouli in the Republic of Congo is now around 40 per cent complete and is on-track for completion in the second quarter of 2015.  The new works will have a cement production of 0.6Mta in the first stage, with the option to expand this to 1Mta. Iran exported over 5.07Mt of cement and clinker during the first quarter of the Iranian year, according to local news reports. Bosnia-based producer Tvornica Cementa Kakanj plans to invest BAM20m (EUR10.225m) to upgrade its facilities and improve its environmental performance. Ciments Calcia opens new distribution centre in Paris

Ciments Calcia opened a new distribution centre in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France, on 4 July 2014, designed by Vib Architecture. The centre consists of two 20m dia silos that rise to a height of 37m. A third cylinder, which has a cut-out design includes a lift and a wrap-round metal staircase. The facility, which was cast in slipform, took three weeks to build.
