An indefinite strike by Pakistan’s Goods Transporters Alliance (UGTA), now in its 10th day, is impacting the delivery of cement exports as well as raw material supplies. PT Semen Papua set to begin construction of new factory, Indonesia

PT Semen Papua is due to start construction of Papua’s first cement factory, which will be constructed in the Paumako port area of East Mimika. The company, which is owned by the Papua provincial administration, will start construction of the new 0.5Mta plant this year, Adolf Haley, head of the regional development planning board, told ANTARA news. Analysis of the Environmental Impact Assessment have been signed by Papua Governor, Lukas Enembe, he said.

Lower pricing hits July-September profits, India

Indian cement companies saw their profits drop over the July-September period due to higher cement prices and freight expenses. Ecuador October cement sales see monthly, annual gains

Cement sales in Ecuador totaled 611,987t in October 2013, an increase of 4.4 per cent YoY, the Institute of Cement and Concrete (INECYC) has reported. The figure also marks a MoM increase of 8.17 per cent compared to the 565,775t sold in September 2013 For the first 10 months of the year, sales have increased by 10.2 per cent to 5.45Mt against the 4.93Mt in the comparative period of 2012.

Cement demand in Argentina advances 19%

In October 2013, Argentinean cement plants shipped 1,151,413t of cement, including exports, representing a 9.5 per cent increase compared to the previous month and a 16.2 per cent rise YoY. Domestic consumption, including imports, reached 1,136,672t, up nine per cent from September and increasing by 19.1 per cent YoY .
