PT Semen Baturaja anticipates third-quarter 2013 production and sales to rise by 14 and seven per cent YoY, respectively, but full-year sales are expected to fall short of an earlier target. The US construction sector is expected to be the main driver behind an annual 12.6 per cent rise in Cemex’s EBITDA over the next five years, a report by Banco Monex has stated. Cement shipments in the Peruvian market totalled 6.701Mt between January and August 2013, reflecting a 9.87 per cent increase YoY, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Dangote Cement has placed another order with Loesche for a VRM cement mill, this time for its new Ibese 7 project. Ecuador sees Jan-August double-digit sales rise

Ecuador cement sales increased by 11.3 per cent in the first eight months of the year, according to the latest statistics from the Instituto Ecuatoriano de Cemento (INECYC). For the January-August 2013, accumulated dispatches totaled 4.271Mt compared to 3.836Mt in the same period of the year before. In August alone, sales climbed to 579,080t versus 557,125t in the same month of 2012, representing a 3.9 per cent increase.

Al Jouf undertakes unscheduled kiln maintenance

Al Jouf Cement has temporarily halted its production line for unscheduled maintenance until 5 October, the Saudi-based company said in a statement to the bourse. Al Jouf Cement said that the shutdown will cost SAR18m (USD 4.8m/EUR 3.5m), but will not impact its ability to meet contractual obligations to clients. The company also stopped production in the last two weeks of June for unscheduled maintenance.
