The 39.9 per cent-owned LafargeHolcim associate Huaxin Cement is investing in a US$140Mta cement works that it is building in Nepal.  Lafarge Malaysia’s turnover came down by some 13 per cent to US$409.5m in the first nine months of 2017, while a net loss of US$33.1m was incurred, compared with a US$10.5m profit for the same period last year. Kyrgyzstan to attract investment for new Ozgorush plant

The Vice Chairman of the Kyrgyz Government, Dair Kenekeyev, has ordered the Agency for Promotion and Protection of Investments to attract investments to the Ozgorush cement plant. The new plant is expected to have a capacity of 1-1.5Mta of cement.

UltraTech Cement

UltraTech Cement has announced plans to set up a 3.5Mta integrated cement plant in Pali, Rajasthan, India, at a cost of INR18.5bn (US$287.4m). The plant is expected to begin production in mid-2020. Anhui Conch plans to construct a new 4.4Mta cement plant in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The development was first initiated in 2016 but suspended in June this year due to the lack of an environmental impact assessment and workforce visa issues. Algeria’s Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia has inaugurated a new 1.5Mta cement plant in Timektane, 260km from Adrar. Further expansion of the DZD21bn (US$181m) works is planned in a second stage, which will take cement capacity to 3Mta.
