Birla Corp acquires stake in AMP Solar Clean Power

Birla Corp and RCCPL, its wholly-owned subsidiary, have acquired 26 per cent ownership (7.8 per cent and 18.2 per cent, respectively) of AMP Solar Clean Power. Bharathi Cement commissions 10MW solar power plant

India’s Bharathi Cement has commissioned a 10MW solar power plant at its 5Mta cement works in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. The facility is expected to help cut the company’s overall energy costs by reducing its reliance on thermal power. The project was delivered by Fourth Partner Energy in a record 60 days, according to a company press release. The power plant is part of Bharathi’s long-term plan to transition to renewable energy.

Cementos BSA signs renewable energy contract with Engie

Chilean cement producer Cementos BSA has signed an agreement with energy firm Engie Energía Chile, which will supply 35GWh per year of renewable energy, according to business newspaper Estrategia. Sri Lankan cement producer Tokyo Cement has officially opened its second biomass power plant at Trincomalee in the presence of country president Maithripala Sirisena, Daily News (Sri Lanka) reported. Ciments du Maroc, an Italcementi subsidiary, has abandoned plans to construct a wind farm at its Safi site on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, SeeNews Renewables reports. Chile's environmental authorities have approved a plan of local cement maker Cemento Polpaico SA  for the construction of a 23.5-MW photovoltaic (PV) park as part of the central system SIC.
