China exported less cement in the first eight months of this year as a result of ebbing demand in developed nations and more difficult market access at home and less export rebates, sources with the General Administration of Customs said Saturday. Vietnam raises import duty on cement

The Finance Ministry November 19 decided to increase the import duty on clinker and cement to 10 and 38 per cent, respectively, the Lao Dong newspaper reported. The ministry reduced import tax on clinker to zero percent in May. The 205Mt domestic cement industry which is haunted by a glut, has seen the lowest despatch growth rate in the last four years.
