HeidelbergCement has announced that its north American subsidiary, Lehigh Hanson Inc, has entered into an agreement to acquire Giant Cement’s (Elementia SAB de CV) Keystone facility in Bath, Pennsylvania. The US Court of Appeals has ruled in favour of Cementos Argos on a pricing dispute involving two ready-mixed concrete (RMC) producers on St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Total Portland and blended cement shipments (including imports) in the USA and Puerto Rico in June 2019 fell by 2.4 per cent to 9.1Mt when compared with June 2018, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Mexico’s Grupo Cementos Chihuahua (GCC) has signed an agreement with a US-based clean energy provider for the supply of solar and wind energy to its cement plant in Odessa, Texas, to fulfil 100 per cent of the facility’s electricity requirement.
