Cement consumption in Spain increased 23.5 per cent YoY to 1.4Mt in March 2023, according to Oficemen. Buzzi Unicem has lowered its specific gross scope 1 CO 2 emissions from 689kg/t cementitious product in 2021 to 664kg/t in 2022, according to its 2022 Sustainability Report. This marks a 3.6 per cent reduction YoY.  Compared to 2020, scope 1 CO 2 emissions are down 4.3 per cent. Harbour Energy and BP have entered into an agreement to develop the Viking carbon capture transportation and storage project near the heavily industrialised Humber region in the UK.
