Swiss market contracts by 1% in 2022

Cement deliveries in Switzerland, including Liechtenstein, were down 6.3 per cent YoY to 971,994t in the fourth quarter of 2022 from 1,037,394t in the 4Q21, according to cemsuisse, the Swiss cement association. Low-carbon cements accounted for 94.7 per cent of sales. Votorantim to invest in energy efficiency at Toral de los Vados plant

In line with Votorantim ’s Sustainability 2030 commitments, the company is investing EUR15m to improve the energy efficiency of the Toral de los Vados factory in Spain. With this investment Votorantim expect to reduce the plant's electricity consumption by seven per cent, equivalent to the average annual consumption of 1600 homes, in addition to reducing the use of fossil fuels, mainly petcoke.

Antoing plant set to capture 97% of its emissions

Heidelberg Materials says that it will build a new hybrid carbon capture (CCUS) unit at its subsidiary SA Cimenteries CBR 's cement plant in Antoing , Belgium, that will almost completely neutralise the plant's carbon-dioxide emissions. Italian cement production fell by five per cent YoY in October 2022, according to the country’s construction chamber, Federbeton. When compared with the 2015 base index production the value increased from 96 in August to 102 per cent in October.
