Consulting firm CemenTec of Pakistan has become the most competitive contender to bid for the contract to supervise the construction of Habesha Cement’s plant near Holetta town, in Oromia Regional State, local press reported.
Habesha’s plant is expected to take close to 22 months to complete. The company is still to award a turnkey project for the engineering, procurement and construction of the project, and it is also looking for a consulting firm to supervise the work during the construction process.
The financial bid was opened on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, where CemenTec, a company that is also consulting Messebo Cement (also of Ethiopia) in its expansion project, offered the lowest amount.
The contract will be awarded in the coming weeks, according to company officials.
