The Indian High Commissioner Ashok K Kantha on Wednesday handed ULM Haldeen, Secretary, Ministry of Resettlement and the Disaster Relief Services, the first lot of 10,000 of the 400,000 bags of cement being supplied by India.

The bags, procured from UltraTech Cement Lanka Pvt Ltd, will supplied in lots of 10,0000 bags each day for the next 40-45 days and will be distributed among the resettled population in the Northern Provision.

This cement, along with an earlier supply of 530,000 metal roofing sheets, will contribute to reconstruction of dwellings of the resettling of IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) in the new areas of habitation.
