Pakistan exports witnessed an increase of 0.8Mt during the first seven months of the current fiscal year July-January 2009-10, according to the latest figures released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).
 
According to the data, cement exports surged to 6.6Mt at the end of January 2010, compared to 5.8Mt in the corresponding period last year. Local dispatches reached to 10.25Mt during the period compared to 10.11Mt in the same period last year.
 
Cement production capacity reached 44.07Mta. Domestic demand during the 2008-09, however, was only 19.4Mt. After providing exports to Afghanistan and India via land the industry had a surplus exportable cement capacity of 13.27Mt.
