The Ministry of Construction has assigned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) to produce between 18Mt and 18.5Mt of cement in 2010, up 6.76% from a year earlier.

Cement joint ventures and grinding stations will make between 15 million-15.5 million tons and 17Mt-17.5Mt, respectively this year, the Voice of Vietnam Radio said Thursday, citing the ministry.

Vietnam’s cement consumption will reach 50 -51.5Mt of cement in 2010, up 9.89%-13.18% from a year earlier, the MoC said.

Last year, Vietnam imported 3.4Mt of clinker and used 45.5Mt of cement, up 11.4% on-year.
