Israel decides to allow shipment of cement into Gaza
Israel has decided to allow a rare shipment of cement and iron bars into Gaza on Thursday. The cement and iron bars are hard needed to start the reconstruction of the territory that was severely damaged by the Israeli army in its assault on the Strip six months ago.
The construction materials are being sent to a sewage network project of the Palestinian Water Authority in Beit Lahiya in the northern part of the Strip. Israel decided to ease a total ban on construction materials to the war-torn Strip in late July, allowing at least one other shipment of cement. So far reconstructions is nonexistent due to the blockade of the territory and the import restrictions. Israel claims that cement and other basic building materials could be used by Palestinian armed groups.
