FLSmidth & Co A/S said on Tuesday (30 September) that it has secured a €78.5m cement project in Siberia, Russia.

The contract, awarded by the mining and metals group SGMK Group, covers the supply of equipment for a complete greenfield cement plant in Uchulensky, near Novokuznetsk. The plant will have a daily capacity of 3500t of cement and is specially design to withstand the low temperatures in the region, FLSmidth & Co said.

"This contract confirms FLSmidth’s expectations to the potential of the Russian market. In addition to the ongoing development programme the region in which the plant will be erected is seeing a modernisation of its cement production capacity and the transition to more environmentally friendly technology," commented Jorgen Huno Rasmussen, CEO of FLSmidth & Co.

FLSmidth & Co, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, provides engineering services for the global cement and minerals industry. The group has 9,400 employees and reported revenue of DKK19.97bn in 2007.
