The Phoenix Zementwerke Krogbeumker GmbH & Co. KG optimises its clinker production for the coming year. By installing a modern firing plant, the cement producer wants to satisfy its increased need of flexibility in being able to apply both primary and alternative fuels while maintaining high product quality. Phoenix Zementwerke Krogbeumker relies on the experience and competence of its long-standing partner, Pillard Feuerungen GmbH in Taunusstein, Germany.

In addition to the main burner with a firing capacity of 58MW the modification also covers engineering – including unique components fort he related burner carriage and the ignition burner, control unit and spare parts. ROTAFLAM® RV2, the new rotary kiln burner from Pillard, will be the center piece of the plant. While ROTAFLAM® burners have been continuously optimized for 20 years, this latest version was specifically designed for burning larger quantities of alternative solid fuels. A high level of flexibility in terms of fuel handling and flame design as well as a proven track record of a substitution rate for alternative solid fuels in excess of 80% distinguish ROTAFLAM® RV2 as it is rapidly improving.

"The number of burners put into operation is rising constantly. The results have been, all in all, very satisfactory. Nonetheless, we keep looking for possibilities to improve the substitution rate yet further”, emphasised Ernst Kirchhoff, general manager of Pillard Feuerungen GmbH.
