The Romanian unit of  Holcim said its net profit fell by 34.5 per cent YoY to RON114.5m (US$48.3m) in 2007, due to increased operating expenditure and depreciation of the domestic currency against the euro.
 
The company’s turnover dropped by 28 per cent on the year to RON990m (US$417.69m) last year.
 
Its total revenue, however, rose by 18 per cent on the year to RON1.03bn (US$434.56m) in 2007, while its total expenditure increased by 34 per cent on the year to RON895.7m (US$377.9m).
 
Holcim Romania set aside EUR135m  for investment in 2008, mainly for projects to modernise its production units, build new concrete stations, and expand its vehicle fleet.
