China National Building Material Co wins Libyan deal
Libya’s state-owned Cement African Company has awarded China National Building Material Co a deal to build a cement factory, Libyan state media said on Tuesday.
Under the deal, the factory would be built in 24 months at Wadi al Chaati area, outside Tripoli, with an annual output capacity of 1Mt.
The Libyan state-owned Economic and Social Development Fund will own 40 per cent of the plant, said Jana, without giving further details.
A government committee on economic development recently said upgrading infrastructure and expanding building material production were priority tasks for the north African country.
The government said in November 2007 it planned to spend 150 billion dinars on public works including building schools and renewing water and sanitation systems over the next five years.
