PT Semen Gresik said sales in the five months to  May fell 1.3 per cent year-on-year to 6.01Mt, led by a big fall in  exports.  It said domestic sales in the five months rose to 5.68Mt from 5.45Mt a year earlier while exports dropped 48.6 per cent to 327,934t from 637, 973t previously. The company has said it planned to reduce exports by 25-30 per cent this year  to maintain its 45 per cent share of the local market and to reap the benefits of  more profitable domestic sales.    

Meanwhile Indonesia’s domestic cement consumption fell by 4.3 per cent in May to 2.59Mt from a year-ago period, data from Indonesia’s Cement Association showed on Monday.
