Cement prices in the UAE are expected to rise in the coming weeks, an industry source said yesterday. A meeting between the Ministry of Economy officials, contractors and representatives of cement producers and importers will discuss the issue on Wednesday in Dubai and may approve a proposal to raise prices by Dh10 per tonne. Producers told Gulf News the ministry had blocked the move to raise prices a few weeks ago. "The situation has changed, we want to cover our expenses. This hike will help us to supply the construction material without losses," they said. "The cost of fuel has increased dramatically in the past few months and raw material prices have gone up."
