For the first quarter of 2006 production of cement in Russia grew 4.6 per cent, outstripping growth rates in the same period 2005 by 1.6 per cent.   In total, over the January-March 2006 period 8.1Mt of cement was made. Construction Works in the first three months of 2006 went up 1.5 per cent, in January-March 2006 organizations of all forms of ownership constructed 6.3m sq m of residential housing, 5.5 per cent down versus the same period 2005.   In 2006 Russian producers expect to manufacture around 53Mt of cement, up nine per cent from the figure posted in in 2005, Eurocement Group’s press service reported.
