Domestic cement consumption during the first two months to February this year dropped 2.2 per cent year-on-year to 4.46Mt, the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) said in a report.  It said over the same period, exports fell 21.4 per cent year-on-year to 389,106t, while clinker exports surged 27 per cent to 566,187t.

The report said the fall in local consumption was traced mainly to a drop in East Java and West Java’s consumption.  It said East Java reported a 21 per cent fall in cement consumption to 515,659t, while West Java saw a 19 per cent drop to 652,152t.
