Authorities in Harad, Yemen, arrested 11 cement importers and closed their shops. Khaled Baruuq, vice deputy of Harad, told News Yemen that the prosecutor’s office moved quickly to imprison the businessmen and close down their business after repeated reports that they were cheating customers by not filling the cement bags to capacity. Baruuq said the first investigations revealed that the men were importing cement from Saudi Arabia, and that the actual weight of the bags didn’t match the published weight. The public prosecutor is demanding that the accused men be banned from their business and their shops confiscated.
