Sales of cement in Poland stood at 11.3Mt in 2005, slightly up from the 2004 levels, but analysts expect a better performance in the next few years. The combined sales of cement in Poland amounted to 11Mt in 2004; 10.6Mt in 2003; 10.8Mt in 2002; 11.3Mt in 2001. The country’s cement sector is lead by foreign investors, including Lafarge, HeidelbergCement and CRH. Analysts forecast the annual cement output will grow to between 17.5Mt and 18Mt over the next five years. Annual cement consumption per capita in Poland which has been well below European Union (EU) levels in the last years is expected to climb to some 500kg.
