India’s top cement makers have raised prices by an average 3 rupees per bag in Mumbai, the country’s largest cement market, effective from Monday to cash in on strong demand, dealers said on Tuesday.  "All the major producer have raised prices by an average 3 rupees per bag as demand is strong because of the pick up in the construction activities," one cement dealer told Reuters.  Retail cement prices would rise to 182-184 rupees per 50-kg bag, dealers said. 
 
Associated Cement Companies Ltd, Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd, Grasim Industries Ltd. and UltraTech Cement Company Ltd. are the top cement suppliers in Mumbai, which consumes 400,000t of cement a month on average.
